Between us (Paul, Jay and Rob) we have curated well over 500 cookbooks in our collection. As far as material possessions go, there are few things in this world we have more pride in, it is an invaluable resource. We never tire of pulling them out, flipping through the pages and admiring the photos. The list of recipes we want to try is seemingly endless.
Each month, we will select a cookbook from our vast collection of old and new books and cook recipes from it throughout that month. We will the review of the book overall, as well as with mini reviews of the recipes we have tried, along with tips and photos. We will also share one recipe from the book, just to give you a little taster of what the book is about.
Accessible ingredients and equipment available to the average home cook will be firmly at the fore-front of our mind when making our choices. We will also keep the styles and format of the book of the month extremely flexible because not all cookery books are recipe books.
Our Book Of the Month segement is born out of our love of recipe books but also with the understanding that not all recipe books are created equal. It can also be an incredibly expensive hobby, so let us your guinea pigs! We will recommend you some absolute must have books, and maybe save you a few quid on those books that probably aren't worth your time.
(A little inside baseball for you, some of the more egosentric chefs have been known to sabbotage certain recipes for print. Changing setting agents, cooking times and oven temps, to avoid giving their secrets away)
